Cassina reissues Tramonto a New York, an iconic design by Gaetano Pesce originally conceived in 1980, now available in an exclusive limited edition of 50 pieces. Inspired by Pop Art, the sofa transforms the sunset skyline of New York into a sculptural and emotional furnishing element, with padded skyscrapers covered in a textured fabric that contrasts light and shadow and a vivid red satin sun setting between the buildings that form the backrest.

Description

Conceived as a personal statement and a critique of pure functionalism, it offers a symbolic and formal reflection on the identity of the metropolis. The updated three-seat version features a CARB-certified plywood frame for the US market, reinforced with elastic webbing and a base in black-painted beech plywood. The cushions are made of polyurethane foam with a percentage of polyols from biological sources and recycled PET batting, upholstered in fabric, with black-painted iron fasteners. Each sofa includes a satin-finish steel plate bearing the Cassina logo, year of design, serial number, and Gaetano Pesce's signature. Like all of Cassina’s recent creations, the piece incorporates circular materials developed through the Cassina LAB.
