Cenote Lava is a round vessel washbasin in recote lava stone, with proportions that make it a substantial yet welcoming object, suitable for stone, marble or wooden countertops. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, it plays on the contrast between a naturally rough, dark exterior that shows the unique colour and texture of the stone and a surprisingly soft, smooth interior, with a uniform finish both inside and out. The washbasin is not intended for a tap hole but for free drain, with an overflow and cap covered in the same lava stone finish, preserving a clean, continuous material line. Each piece is carved by hand from a single block, making every basin slightly different from the others and turning Cenote Lava into an irreplaceable element that adds character and sophistication to residential bathrooms, spas and contract environments where the bathroom becomes a truly material‑driven ritual.
