Description

The Palinfrasca Sofa, with its iconic and instantly recognizable shape, pays tribute to the 1994 work by Luca Meda, from which it draws its inspiration. It interprets the essence of teak not only in an innovative and contemporary way, but also as the most complete expression of Molteni&C's savoir-faire and material research, expertise that has been refined over the nearly ninety years since the company’s founding in 1934.

The themes that define the Landmark Collection – the curving, enveloping lines of the solid teak frame and the large-scale warp-and-weft woven motif – remain present in the armchair and become even more distinct and expressive due to its more compact proportions. The curvilinear backrest envelops the user, enhancing the idea of protective and welcoming comfort. The pouf, with its solid teak structure, is complemented by a polyurethane cushion that provides maximum support and comfort.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
