Description

The Round D.154.5 armchair, designed by Gio Ponti in 1954 and reissued in 2021 as part of Molteni&C's Heritage Collection, is a true reinterpretation of a timeless classic. The structure of the seat and backrest is made with an electrowelded metal frame, molded polyurethane, and a cotton/polyester combined lining. The feet are available in satin brass or black chrome finish, with non-slip plastic pads for stability. The backrest supports are made from curved and shaped plywood, covered with stained ash veneer. The external upholstery, available in various fabrics, is difficult to remove, as specified in the attached label. The product is available in versions conforming to TB117 or BS5852 standards.

The dimensions of the D.154.5A and D.154.5B armchair are 80 cm in width, 72 cm in depth, 61 cm in height, and a seat height of 41 cm.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
