Description
Made of solid American walnut, Bean is crafted through a complex artisanal process that involves assembling 346 parts without screws—completely by hand over more than two weeks. The finishing alone takes twelve hours, with an additional eight hours dedicated to staining. Even today, every detail is visually and manually inspected, with techniques like sliding thin sheets between drawers to test alignment. The flip-up top conceals a refined interior with a leather writing pad and a poplar plywood structure veneered with an unusually thick 1 mm layer, much higher in quality than standard veneer. Inside, compartments are neatly divided, including a central storage tray and side-mounted pen holders in satin nickel brass. There are eight side drawers—four on each side—with the first ones featuring maple partitions. Available in two versions: the compact Bean 181 is 181 cm (71" 1/4) long, 87 cm (34" 1/4) deep, and 75 cm (29" 1/2) high, weighing 89 kg with a volume of 1.579 m³. The larger Big Bean 210 reaches 210 cm (82" 5/8) in length, 102 cm (40" 1/8) in depth, maintaining the same height of 75 cm, with a weight of 96 kg and a volume of 2.076 m³. Highly customizable, Bean can be enhanced with maple wood internal dividers, leather drawer bottoms, burnished brass details, and a personalized nameplate. Paired with the Marlowe chair, it creates a refined and cohesive workspace.
