Foster + Partners and Molteni have enjoyed a long and successful collaboration, starting with the Still sofa project in 2006. Recently, the studio also designed a series of office furniture called ‘Elements’ for UniFor, a company part of the Molteni Group. Ava Table represents the natural evolution of a path begun with the design of a metal meeting room table for the Elements series for UniFor. This new project introduces a dining table entirely in wood, exploring the warmth and tactile effect of the material while maintaining an economical approach. The modular and sustainable design makes it suitable for both domestic and commercial spaces.

Description

The Ava Table project stands out for its modular structure and the use of noble materials, providing a unique tactile and visual quality. The table top is made from a wood particle panel covered with eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) or walnut (Juglans nigra) veneer, with a perimeter solid wood edge in oak (Quercus). The underframe is made from a birch plywood panel (Betula alba), also covered with eucalyptus or walnut veneer, and features a solid wood internal structure made of spruce (Picea abies). The table legs are made from high-density fiberboard panels, covered with eucalyptus or walnut veneer, and have a solid wood perimeter in oak. The internal structure of the legs is made from birch plywood.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
