Description

The D.154.2 armchair, designed by Gio Ponti between 1953 and 1957 for the Planchart Villa in Caracas, was reissued by Molteni&C in 2015 and has become a design icon. Featuring an outer shell in compact cold-foamed polyurethane and an internal structure made of welded metal with flexible polyurethane, it provides a welcoming and comfortable seating experience. The seat cushion is crafted from shaped polyurethane and polyester fiber, covered in velour paired with resin backing. The armchair is available in two upholstery options: fully covered in fabric or with a leather exterior and fabric interior. Black chrome steel feet with non-slip tips complete its sophisticated design.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
