Description

The Chelsea chairs stand out for their solid wood frame, available in fine finishes such as eucalyptus and various oak shades. Some variants can also be made in glossy lacquered colors, upon request and with a minimum quantity. The seat consists of a solid spruce wood frame and particle board panels, with a variable-density polyurethane foam padding, covered in bonded velour. The backrest, made of Polimex, is also padded with polyurethane foam to ensure comfort and ergonomic support. The external upholstery is removable, depending on the chosen version, and the chairs are equipped with non-slip plastic feet.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
