MOLTENI & C. MHC.1 CONTEINER

Werner Bläser

MHC.1 is a reissue of the prototype of Molteni&C's first modern piece of furniture, the dresser designed by Werner Blaser. Although it was never put into production, it won first prize at the 1955 Cantù International Competition, the 1st Selettiva, aimed at requalifying the image of Italian production. The jury was composed of notable figures such as Gio Ponti, Alvar Aalto, Romano Barocchi, Carlo de Carli, and Finn Juhl. The design is characterized by a distinctive construction system based on a simple triple-fork joint. After an initial limited edition of 100 numbered pieces, it is now available in two new non-numbered versions with exclusive finishes: honey-stained emien and black-stained ash.
