Cleo, the new project by architect and creative director Vincent Van Duysen for Molteni&C, is a modular system that combines various linear, corner, and island elements, offering the possibility to create a wide range of compositions suitable for any living space. The core of the project is the shell, which is used in every component, featuring a curved shape that evokes the idea of an intimate, embracing space, seamlessly connecting the seat and backrest. The shell is upholstered in fabric or leather and, together with the seat cushions, provides great comfort.

Description

Cleo is a modular system that combines various elements—linear, corner, and island—to create a wide range of compositions suited to any type of living space. At the heart of the design is the shell, which is used in each component. This harmonious, curvilinear shell evokes a cozy space that seamlessly embraces the seat and backrest. Covered in fabric or leather, it provides great comfort. The various combinations of materials for the shell and seat cushions allow for contrasts or emphasize the harmony of the two elements. The back cushions are rectangular and can be freely placed to meet different needs, offering comfort and enabling various relaxation positions, from sitting to read a good book to lying down for a moment of rest. Cleo is supported by slender painted steel legs, designed to make the sofa appear to float within the living space, becoming the centerpiece and easily placed in the center of the room. Cleo also offers straight monocoque options, perfect for creating complete and enveloping sofa forms.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
