Description
The Hector system, designed by Vincent Van Duysen in 2020, is a modular bookcase featuring a refined design and premium materials. The upright, available in painted or anodized versions, is made of extruded aluminum and covered with wood veneer. The shelves have a painted aluminum structure, composed of die-cast and extruded elements, with the option of a solid wood finish. The shelf inserts can be in extra-clear or smoked tempered glass, or in medium-density fiber panels covered with wood veneer or melamine laminate painted in the available colors.
The system includes storage units with drop-down doors, made of particleboard panels covered with veneer, with the interior of the door also available in regenerated leather in various colors. A decoder storage unit is available in the same finish, while the TV support panel consists of phenolic stratified material with metal parts for mounting onto the upright.
The available finishes for the uprights and frames include slate, bronze, pewter, and iris, while the storage units come in black oak or sunrise oak, as well as matte lacquered options. The shelves are available in smoked or extra-clear glass. The feet of the uprights and the shelf supports in black oak always come in a slate finish, while those in sunrise oak match the frame they are paired with. The inserts always coordinate with the frame, with options including regenerated leather in shades of ivory, dark brown, natural, mud green, taupe, and black, or matte lacquer in black, bronze, pewter, and iris.
The maximum height of the upright is 315 cm and can be customized at no extra cost. The system does not allow depth reductions and requires floor-to-ceiling or wall mounting, depending on the chosen configuration. Shelves with a black oak frame are not compatible with integrated LED lighting and are not available in the 113.1 cm width. For shelves with an aluminum frame in slate, pewter, bronze, and iris finishes, a width reduction is possible at an additional cost, with a minimum size of 30 cm.
The height positioning of shelves and storage units is at the client's discretion, while the positioning of the uprights remains fixed. For configurations with integrated lighting, at least one shelf with an aluminum frame and wooden or lacquered insert must be included, or a drawer unit, decoder storage unit, or lower drop-down storage unit, all aligned for electrical connection.
Load capacities vary depending on the structure. Shelves with an aluminum frame can support up to 15 kg for the 53.1 cm size, 23 kg for the 83.1 cm size, and 27 kg for the 113.1 cm size. Shelves with a solid wood frame have a capacity of 9 kg for the 53.1 cm size and 15 kg for the 83.1 cm size. The drop-down storage unit has a maximum capacity of 4 kg, while the interior of the storage units can support up to 8 kg. The top surface of the storage units can hold up to 15 kg.
