Description

The D.357.1 and D.357.2 bookcases, designed by Gio Ponti in 1956-57 and reissued in 2012, are crafted from shaped plywood with an elm veneer finish, combining a transparent natural finish with hand-applied white lacquer. An optional element from the D.950.1 collection allows for the addition of a framed mirror.

The brand is distinguished by innovative design, continuous research, and the adoption of advanced production techniques, supplying furnishings for museums, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, with collaborations from renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Jean Nouvel, and Hannes Wettstein. Molteni&C received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro career award in 1994 and 2020, awarded by ADI (Association for Industrial Design). Since 2012, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, it has exclusively reissued several iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, intended for private residences, special projects, or limited editions, faithfully respecting the original designs.
